BCom (Tourism Management) honours students work on tourism issues in Botswana

Posted on October 31, 2012

The students prepared various desk-related projects on tourism issues in the Maun and Delta region, before leaving to do the practical part in the area. The fieldwork was done in Botswana from 6 to 14 September 2012, during which time the students gained exposure to major attractions such as the Moremi Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta.

This allowed students to interface with tourism stakeholders. The students also presented the findings of their research at a seminar in Maun. The excursion was undertaken with the assistance of Island Safari Lodge, that sponsored the students’ accommodation. The project was facilitated by Mr Cyril Francis, Dr Felicite Fairer-Wessels and Dr Anneli Douglas, all staff members of the Department of Tourism Management.
