What do we do at SCU?

Students are at university primarily to study and graduate. During this time, it is essential to stay focused on the important academic goals and to manage life stressors and events in an optimal way.

We would like you to become a resilient student, ready to face life's challenges and manage your stress in an optimal way. There are many resources on this web-page to help you do this. 

The development of personal and life skills enables students to develop holistically and empower them to be successful, well- rounded and resilient individuals and responsible citizens. We offer workshops and webinars to enhance success and build your arsenal of skills. Please see Services offered for more information and how to register for these exciting topics. 

The academic support rendered at the SCU ensures that the students make the correct career choices, approach theri studies in an optimal way and are emotionally equipped to be academically successful. We furthermore offer a Cognitive Training Programme, to assist you in your studies. See details under Services Offered

For any course related enquiries or module related academic support, please get in touch with your Faculty Student Advisor (FSA). 

Therapeutic and emotional support ensures that students are in the right frame of mind to strive for academic success. We want to enhance the optimal psycho-social functioning of all our students.

We offer telephone counseling by a registered counsellor when you call 0800 747 747. This service is delivered through our partners at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG)

We offer short term, individual therapy free of charge to registered students. All SCU counselling staff is registered at the HPCSA. To request this service, send a service request to [email protected]  

SCU is a HPCSA accreddited training site for psychology interns and master's students. Some of our services are rendered by these psychologists-in-training, under the supervision of our senior registered psychologists. 

The career counselling and assessment we offer at SCU can assist you to find the correct career path to match your interests, abilities and preferences.
