Department of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education has many ongoing projects

 The following are on going projects for the following staff members in the departement:

 

  •  Ms Grietjie Haupt: The cognitive dynamics of socio-techno-logical knowledge in the sketches of expert designers made in the early phases of the design process.

 

  •   Dr Estelle Gaigher: The response to learner question in science classroom.

 

  •   Ms Batseba Mofolo-Mbokane: Investigating students’ difficulties with volumes of solid of revolution.

 

  •  Prof William Fraser and the Life Sciences team will commence on a NRF-supported research project titled 'Research as educator role' among Life Sciences educators working in general schools and school for visually impaired learners in South Africa during the second quarter of 2011.

 

  • Prof Gilbert Onwu: Sustainability of teacher professional identity in the context of teaching science mathematics and technology.

 

  •   Prof Gilbert Onwu: NUFU sponsored PhD student, Monde Kazeni and Ms Marie Botha. Working towards a more socially responsible science and technology education.

 

  • Prof Gilbert Onwu and Dr Carol van der Westhuizen: Integrating TESSA materials into teaching practice exercise.

 

  •   Dr Willem Rauscher: Natural Sciences and Technology teachers understanding of the nature of Science and Technology (RDP).

 

  •  Dr Jeanine Mwambakana participated in a 2nd University of Technology e-Mathematics Workshop organized by Netherlands organization in higher education, CPUT, Cape Town March 2011.
