The Onderstepoort Para-Veterinary and Veterinary Student Committee (OPVSC) began the “I Want To Be a Vet” initiative in 2010 to encourage previously disadvantaged school learners to have an interest in veterinary science and to assist them with their applications to our veterinary faculty.
The initiative takes place annually with students from all across the country coming to the Faculty of Veterinary Science to learn more about the amazing career field of Veterinary Science and Veterinary Nursing.
Learners are exposed to basic animal handling, anatomy and pathology specimens and interactive welfare sessions. This jam-packed weekend is throughly enjoyed by school-learners hoping to join the Onderstepoort Faculty of Veterinary Science in the future, and they leave inspired to pursue a career in the veterinary field!
