Mr Johan Hanekom will be managing the Harmony Chair in Rock Engineering and Numerical Modelling. The Chair has as aim to research and promote the application of appropriate criteria and numerical modelling codes to allow the planning and execution of safe and optimum deep level mining layouts. The Chair will also promote the communication of research findings to current students in an attempt to broaden mining engineers’ knowledge base in Rock Engineering but also to develop their interest in rock engineering.
