The University of Pretoria’s Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering had a strong showing at the 11th International Conference on Boiling and Condensation Heat Transfer, with three presentations during the event and seven attendees, allowing for both staff and students from the University of Pretoria to stay abreast of the cutting edge in boiling and condensation research, and investigate future collaboration opportunities.
Prof. Jaco Dirker presented on some of the latest experimental findings in flow boiling with binary and self rewetting fluids, while Dr Bradley Bock presented on some recent findings on the effectiveness of multiscale enhancements of pool boiling and falling film boiling in refrigerant. Master’s student Mitchell Whiting then showcased some recent CFD results showing how cavity geometry influences single bubble nucleation.
