UP to host the 2023 FreeCAD (and free CAE) Users Conference, 1-3 March 2023

Posted on November 15, 2022

UP’s Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering is hosting the inaugural FreeCAD (and free CAE) Users Conference from 1 to 3 March 2023.  The conference will be hosted as an annual and free online event, however pre-registration is required.

FreeCAD (https://www.freecadweb.org/) has been in existence since October 2002 and is a general-purpose parametric 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeler with a wide range of CAE (computer-aided engineering) tools (know as workbenches inside FreeCAD).  Examples are Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Planar Multibody Dynamics, Electro Magnetic Modelling to list a few.  FreeCAD is intended for mechanical engineering product design but also expands to a wider range of uses around engineering, such as architecture or electrical engineering. FreeCAD is free and open-source, and is available for Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.  Users can extend the functionality of the software (by for example creating new workbenches) using the Python programming language.

Please see the event schedule as well as the speaker line up and use the registration link in order to be able to attend.  Hope to see you there!
