Mandela Scholarship Opportunity: Study at Leiden

University!

Calling all University of Pretoria Students!

Leiden University in the Netherlands offers a prestigious Mandela Scholarship Fund for

UP students to participate in a semester-long exchange programme. This scholarship is

a fantastic opportunity to broaden your academic horizons, experience a new culture,

and contribute to your development upon returning to South Africa.

Who is Eligible?

• You must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Pretoria.

• Have spent a minimum of two semesters at UP with a strong academic record

(minimum 75% average).

• Have no outstanding fees at UP.

• Be pre-selected for the scholarship by the University of Pretoria.

 

The Mandela Scholarship Fund will cover the following expenses:

• Living allowance: €1250 per month for the 5-month programme (accommodation

included in the allowance amount of €1250)

• ICS Complete+ insurance coverage sponsored by Aon.

Please note that the student will be responsible for the following costs if selected for the

Mandela Scholarship Fund:

• Orientation programme fee

• Visa fees

• Flight ticket

• Housing fee

• Full academic record/transcript

• Curriculum Vitae (CV)

• Motivational letter outlining your academic goals and reasons for applying.

• Confirmation letters from relevant department heads should clearly state your

nomination for the exchange programme at Leiden University.

• It should also confirm that the credits earned at Leiden University will be

accepted towards your degree at the University of Pretoria

• Proof of registration
