Prof Wilna Bean

Prof Wilna L. Bean is a professionally registered Industrial Engineer with almost fifteen years' experience in supply chain engineering and optimisation. During her career she worked on a variety of supply chain management and optimisation research and consulting projects, spanning from modelling inventory management under uncertainty to supply chain benchmarking and analysis; and most recently logistics behavioural modelling in urban transportation systems.

She studied at the University of Pretoria where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. She received the 2007 Higher Education and Training Student of the year award from SAPICS (The Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa). She also obtained her Honours, Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Industrial Engineering at the University of Pretoria.

Prof Bean’s teaching duties in the Industrial Engineering Department include:

  • BOZ 312: Operations Research (Undergraduate)
  • BLK 320: Industrial Logistics (Undergraduate)
  • BPJ 410/420: Final Year Project (Undergraduate).
  • BCS 780: Industrial and Systems Engineering Research (Postgraduate)
  • BAN 780: Industrial Analysis (Postgraduate)
  • BOZ 780: Operations Research (Postgraduate)
