The Faculty of Law (UP Law) at the University of Pretoria (UP) announces with pride and congratulates Alumnus Thato Lepinka on his appointment as a director of Weavind & Weavind Inc. Attorneys as from 1 March 2022.
Lepinka completed his LLB degree at UP Law Faculty in 2014 and on graduation, taking up vocational training (articles of clerkship) as a candidate attorney at Weavind & Weavind Inc, UP Law staff predicted Thato’s success at the firm as he continued to show resilience whilst juggling his LLB studies and being fully committed to the firm where he began vacation work at the tender age of 20.
As legal practitioner, Lepinka has a diverse practice, not only focusing on general litigation, but also assisting clients in labour and commercial disputes involving government parastatals. His areas of specialisation include, amongst others, Property law, Liquidation and Insolvency, Procurement and Administrative law.
An elated Lepinka commented that “It has been a long journey, but worth it nonetheless and I wouldn’t have reached this milestone, if it wasn’t for those who continued to support and believe in me throughout. I’ve learnt a great deal on the human qualities of courage, perseverance and patience.”
According to the Weavind & Weavind Inc Attorneys website, ‘Thato matriculated from Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool (‘Affies’) in 2009, where he played rugby, waterpolo and was a member of the Affies Boys Choir that scored cum laude at the 5th World Choir games in Graz Austria in 2008. He enjoys sports and is undertaking serious work on his golf swing.'
Thato‘s professional tenure at the firm commenced when he enrolled for vacation work at Weavind & Weavind in 2012 whilst undertaking his LLB degree at the University of Pretoria. He subsequently completed his articles of clerkship at the firm and worked his way up the ranks to the position of Associate in the Commercial Department.
Thato speaks Afrikaans fluently - a skill that he gained during his studies at Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool (“Affies”) and continued to undertake his LLB studies in Afrikaans. In fact, he is a polyglot, i.e. fluent in Afrikaans, English, Setswana, Sepedi and isiZulu.
UP Law wishes Thato the very best with his bright future as a director of Weavind and Weavind Inc Attorneys.
