Film Synopsis

It Stays With You (2018, 52 mins) explores the impact on the local community of UN peacekeepers use of force in Cité Soleil, Haiti, during the period 2004-2007, which left scores of civilians dead. No investigation has ever been undertaken by the UN, local police, or the Haitian government. The testimonies of victims are contextualised through interviews with local and international experts, including former Special Rapporteurs on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Killings, Phillip Alston, and our own late Prof Christof Heyns.
