UP Law well-represented at Southern African Law Teachers Conference 2020

The Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria is well represented at the upcoming Annual Conference of the Society of Law Teachers of Southern Africa, which will be hosted from 20 to 24 January 2020 in the Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Province.  The theme of the conference is ‘Law, Nature and Sustainable Development’.

Dr Sylvia Papadopoulos, in the Department of Mercantile Law, is presenting on ‘Digital content and the online consumer: Quo Vadis?’ on Tuesday, 21 January 2020. 

Professor Monray Botha, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Professor Stefan van Eck in the Department of Mercantile Law and Director of the Centre for Insolvency, Labour and Company Law (CILC) are participating in the plenary session on ‘Labour Law and the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.  The titles of their respective presentations are ‘Collective bargaining in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution’ and ‘How real is the 4th Industrial Revolution and how should policy makers in the sphere of social protection respond?’

Ms Melanie Murcott from the Department of Public Law is participating in a plenary session on ‘Exploring the relationship between Environmental Law and animals:  Should we move beyond sustainable use?’

Both plenary sessions are on Wednesday, 22 January 2020.
