At recent meeting with staff members from the Faculty of Law, Prof Cheryl de la Rey, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria announced that Dean André Boraine has been appointed for a second term in office. She expressed her appreciation for the hard work that Prof Boraine has done during his first four-year term as Dean and she was looking forward to his next four year tenure starting on 1 November 2015.
Prof de la Rey used comparative tables to unpack the University of Pretoria's long-term Strategic Plan, UP2025, the strategic priorities it pursues and the Faculty of Law's role in this. She requested that all staff should focus on UP being the leading research-intensive university in Africa, which is internationally recognised for its quality, relevance and impact, for developing people, addressing and actively promoting reform, creating knowledge, being part of a global landscape and making a difference locally and globally.
