The University of Pretoria was represented by four first year teams, consisting of two members each: Shannon Naushutz, Tinotenda Kakora, Lizwi Majola and Kaitlin Morris in the English Division and Lize Roussouw, Stiaan Krause, Johan Taljaard and Devaliér Wouda in the Afrikaans Division of the Competition represented the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria.
According to Head Coach Mary-Ann Gettliffe 'the students represented TuksLaw admirably and performed well. In the preliminary rounds, the students dominated and two teams were selected to participate in the final round on 4 October.' Shannon Nauschutz and Tinotenda Kakora proceeded to the finals in the English Division and Lize Roussouw and Stiaan Krause proceeded to the finals in the Afrikaans Division.
After a night's hard work in order to grasp and prepare arguments on a new hypothetical case dealing with the extradition of a 17 year old art thief, both semi-final teams excelled in the Supreme Court of Appeal in the final rounds.
TuksLaw walked away with the following awards:
The English teams were coached by Head Coach Mary-Ann Gettliffe (BCom Law III) and Assistant Coach Maremo Matlou (BCom LLB III). Carlien Wolmarans (LLB II) and Daniel Eloff (LLB II) were respectively the Head and Assistant Coach of the Afrikaans teams.
