Final year LLB students: Supervised Internship at the Centre for Human Rights

Posted on February 13, 2012

The student-intern will take part in the Centre’s Human Rights Clinics or in another project. The Clinics deal with real-life issues such as:

  • Submitting communications/cases to the African Commission or Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights;
  • Assisting the UN Special Rapporteurs on Extrajudicial Killing and on Health, with preparing their reports to the
  • UN Human Rights Council;
  • Conducting a gender audit of the University

Some of the Centre’s projects relate to access to information, the rights of persons with disabilities and editing of publications.

Consult the Centre’s website for more information on the Centre (www.chr.up.ac.za)

Students should apply before the end of February to [email protected], with a CV, academic record and a brief letter of motivation. Students will be informed of the outcome early in March.

Students will be required to devote some hours (20 hours) to the internship in the first semester, but the majority of internship hours are to be devoted during the second semester.
