TuksLaw graduates appointed as clerks in highest courts

Khomotso Moshikaro, a recent recipient of the prestigious Rhodes scholarship, has been appointed to Justice Johann van der Westhuizen at the Constitutional Court as from January 2013. Ofentse Motlhasedi, an LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa graduate who recently returned from Cotonou in Benin (where she was based for a semester) has been assigned to Justice Sisi Khampepe at the Constitutional Court as from June 2013. Busisiwe Nhlapo has also been appointed as a clerk of the Supreme Court of Appeal to Judge Carole Lewis.   The duties of a clerk include inter alia writing analytical summaries of written arguments or evidence; assessing arguments in the light of academic legal literature and case law; conducting detailed research on particular topics; preparing pre-hearing memoranda, media summaries and opinions; and identifying key issues in matters to be heard.
