There is a worldwide trend to provide open access to legal information in order to support an open and democratic society. The project, made possible by funding from the University of Pretoria and SAFLII, is based on the idea that South Africans should have easy free access to reliable updated information on the laws that affect their lives. These laws include The Marriage Act, The Wills Act, The Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Sectional Titles Act, Companies Act and so on. In addition, the database includes point-in-time or historical versions of the Acts. At this stage the website is a work in progress and does not yet contain all the Acts.
