Dean André Boraine, as Programme Director, welcomed those present and congratulated the Faculty’s ‘ambassadors of excellence’ on their academic achievements. He emphasised that the analytic and research skills formed and honed during the LLB curriculum are critical for success in a variety of professional contexts and a solid portal to postgraduate studies.
Prof Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria, was the keynote speaker at this prestigious event that was attended by the recipients, donors and Faculty of Law staff members. Prof de la Rey invited achievers to take inspiration from late former President Nelson Mandela who urged us all to keep striving to live the best life that we can live, and never settle for anything less than what we are capable of achieving.
Dr Philip Stevens (Department of Public Law) and Ms Lorette Arendse (Department of Jurisprudence) announced the various recipients of awards, bursaries and prizes and facilitated the handing over process by the respective donors.
Deputy Dean Anton Kok concluded the event with a vote of thanks to all involved.
