Scholars and other persons interested in participating at the Conference are invited to submit Abstract proposals.
Call for Papers - Party Constitutionalisation and Constitutionalism in Sub-Saharan Africa Conference
Proposals can be submitted on the theme of Constitutionalisation of Political Parties in Sub-Saharan Africa and the impact this has had on Democracy and Constitutionalism. The paper proposals can fall within any of the following four sub-themes:
1 International Standards and Global Trends
Broad international and global trends in the constitutionalisation of political parties that may haveinfluenced post-1990 developments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
2 General Context
Historical overview and evolution of political party constitutionalisation in Sub-Saharan Africa andstandards set by the African Union and its Regional Economic Communities.
3. Comparative Studies on the Constitutional Framework
Comparatives studies on political parties and governments in Sub-Saharan Africa; political partiesand governance in Sub-Saharan Africa; opposition parties in Sub-Saharan Africa: their roles, rightsand recognition; and political parties, gender and governance in Sub-Saharan Africa.
4. Country Case Studies
In-depth country cases studies on political party constitutionalisation in Anglophone African countries, Francophone African countries or Lusophone and Hispanophone African countries.
Take the N1 South freeway (towards Johannesburg).
Take the N4 off-ramp (Witbank freeway).
Follow the N4 West freeway (towards Pretoria), which becomes Pretorius Street.
Turn left into Gordon Road, which becomes Jan Shoba Street (previously Duncan Street).
Turn left into South Street for the Hillcrest Campus (LC de Villiers Sports Grounds) entrance.
Continue for approximately 1 km and enter at the Experimental Farm entrance (HPC School to the right)
Keep left and follow the road for 1 km to arrive at the Future Africa Campus entrance.
Take the N1 North freeway (towards Polokwane).
Take the Lynnwood Road off-ramp.
Turn left into Lynnwood Road, passing several sets of traffic lights.
Turn right into Jan Shoba Street (previously Duncan Street).
Turn right into South Street for the LC de Villiers Sports Grounds Entrance.
Turn right into South Street for the Hillcrest Campus (LC de Villiers Sports Grounds) Entrance.
Continue for approximately 1 km and enter at the Experimental Farm entrance (HPC School to the right).
Keep left and follow the road for 1 km to arrive at the Future Africa Campus Entrance.
