Background

Prof Willem van Otterlo studied at the University of Witwatersrand and obtained the following degrees: BSc Chemistry (1989-1991), BSc Hons Chemistry (1992), MSc Organic/Inorganic Chemistry (1995) and PhD Organic Chemistry (1999).

He is a proffessor of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Polymer Science, Stellenbosch University. His research thrusts are mainly focused on the utilisation of modern synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of functional organic molecules.
