A Doctoral Student Needed Urgently

There is an opportunity for a highly motivated doctoral student. The doctoral student will work on a plasma-based water research project funded by the Water Research Commission of South Africa under the guidance of Dr Samuel Iwarere (FLAIR Fellow) and Professor Michael Daramola based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria. This doctoral position offers the opportunity to design and evaluate a solar-powered plasma reactor for treating emerging contaminants in drinking water. The PhD student will be provided access to the state-of-the-art research facility in the Department, and the possibility for national and international collaboration.   • A letter of motivation stating your interest in a water-related research project
  • Copy of your detailed CV in PDF format
  • Copy of your academic records
  • A reference letter from your previous or current research supervisor

Applicants with degrees in Chemical/Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Electrical Engineering are encouraged to apply. Detailed knowledge of analytical procedures relevant to the field of water and wastewater treatment will be an added advantage.


A Master Student Needed Urgently

There is an opportunity for a master student to work on a plasma-based water treatment research project funded by the Water Research Commission of South Africa under the guidance of Dr Samuel Iwarere (FLAIR Fellow) and Professor Michael Daramola based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria. This master position offers the opportunity to study in-depth the degradation of selected organic contaminants in a continuous-flow plasma reactor. The master student will be provided access to the state-of-the-art research facility in the Department, and the possibility for national and international collaboration.   • A letter of motivation stating your interest in a masters programme as well as water-related project
  • Copy of your detailed CV in PDF format
  • Copy of your academic records
  • A reference letter from your previous undergraduate lecturer or current research supervisor if in an honours programme
