Conference of the Forum for Economists International

The Forum for Economists International offers a platform for economists worldwide and encourages and facilitates debate among professional economists, academics and practitioners alike. The Forum aims at the exchange of scholarly ideas and results of scientific research within the global economic community. Papers in the fields of public administration, public finance and public management were accepted and are eligible for submission to the Public Finance and Management journal. Dr Monkam presented a paper entitled: Local Municipality Productive Efficiency and its Determinants in South Africa. The paper assesses the technical efficiency of 231 local municipalities in South Africa during 2007 and investigates the potential determinants of efficiency gaps among local municipalities in the country using the nonparametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique and a Tobit regression model.
