Culture

External Culture

External culture consists of the University of Pretoria's most well known annual event, InSync, as well as, Step It Up.

1nSync

This is the annual performance by first years from each residence that includes singing and dancing and rhythmic routines. A theme is chosen to which the first years dance their hearts out in a bid  to portray the theme in the best way possible. It is practised and takes place in Welcoming week (the first week of orientation at  UP) and is not something to be missed. It is a spectacular event that guarantees amazing entertainment and fun for and from participants. For more information contact Alicia Etsebeth (076 499 9550).

Step It Up

Probably a culture highlight of the year, Step It Up is similar to 1nSync, also themed and characterised by singing, dancing and rhythmic movies, but everyone is welcome to participate. The show is performed for all the men's residences respectively in one night, and is then also done so for us the next evening by the men. It's an event not to be missed, as a lot of hard work and effort is put in by all the residences. For more information contact Alicia Etsebeth (076 499 9550).

UP A Capella

This is one for the singers. This is the opportunity for 20 ladies to serenade UP with their beautiful voices, according to a chosen theme. This is also definitely not a show to be missed, as the ladies and men serenades always melt the hearts of every spectator of the evening. The UP A Capella finalists then participate in Ser Nationals and have the opportunity to show all the other universities what UP has! For more information contact Monique Botha (074 601 6034).

Internal Culture

It's all about culture. This an opportunity to participate in some cultural activities and enrich yourself . A whole culture week is set aside to explore various aspects of world culture in a series of social events. The other aspect of internal culture includes the recording of the year's most prestigious events and happenings in our annual Scrapbook. These are great opportunities to experience and record new and different things that Vividus Day House participates in annually. Last but certainly not least, our annual Miss Vividus event, where the participants have the opportunity to represent themselves and compete for the chance to be crowned as Miss Vividus and represent the House.
