SALTBAA is a unique form of sport angling, in that it limits its International Game Fish Association rated class line to a maximum of 4 kg (maximum break strength). Teams consist of four anglers (two anglers per boat), except the Veterans/Masters in which a team consists of only two anglers. Angling (fishing) locations include dams, rivers, estuaries and off shore (ocean). Two major National championships are held annually: The All Inlands tournament (= freshwater dams and rivers) and the National Championship, which alternates between freshwater and saltwater (estuaries and off-shore) from year to year

For the past 12 years Dr Stoltsz, a lecturer in DVTD, has represented Central Northwest Province in the Veterans/Masters category. The latest All Inlands tournament was hosted by Mpumalanga Province at the Grootdraai dam near Standerton in Mpumalanga from 5 -9 October 2022. More than 80 anglers and approximately 45 boats participated in the tournament which took place over 4 days. Following the All Inlands tournament, Dr Stoltsz was again selected to represent CNW Province as a Veteran/Master at the upcoming National Championships to be held at Loskop dam, between Middelburg and Groblersdal in Mpumalanga, from 11 – 18 February 2023.
