ELEPHANT (Empowering universities’ Learning and rEsearch caPacities in the One Health Approach for the maNagement of animals at the wildlife, livestock and human interface in SouTh Africa) is an EU funded training and research capacity building project, initiated by a consortium of two European and six South African and higher education institutions, including the University of Pretoria in 2020.

In the true spirit of One Health, ELEPHANT harnesses the concept that the health, wellbeing and livelihoods of people is interconnected and interdependent with the health of animals (both domestic and wild) and the environment we all live in. For researchers and lecturers working in ELEPHANT partner institutions the door is open to receive structured training in the core concepts of One Health in order to share and disseminate these concepts among students and to make a difference in the communities they serve.
