On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" a UP lecturer resigned after making racist remarks.

On 2 September 2013, the Perdeby, student newspaper, reported on the resignation of a philosophy lecturer after she questioned, in her own capacity, why the rape of babies is a cultural phenomenon among black ethnic groups on the website Praag. Her remarks were regarded as both racist and hate speech. An investigation was launched, however, the lecturer in question resigned the following day.
