On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper Perdeby reported on the harm done by the social media page "Tukkie Selfshots".

On 26 August 2013, the student newspaper, the Perdeby reported on a Facebook page called “Tukkie Selfshots”. This was a page encouraging students to upload naked or semi-naked pictures of themselves, but not include their faces allowing them to remain anonymous. Other South African universities were experiencing the creation of similar pages. The UP Executive stated it was an abuse of the UP trademark and that the University had no links or association to it. It could also not confirm or deny that the photos were indeed UP students.
