On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" UP paid tribute to prof Christof Heyns who passed on 28 March 2021.
Prof Heyns was a professor of Human Rights Law at the University of Pretoria and the Director of UP Law’s Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa. He is internationally recognized for his wide-reaching initiatives on human rights in Africa.
The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and clipping collection that details the prof Heyns’s role as a Tukkie students and a UP staff member. Events recorded on this day in celebration of prof Heyns’s live and work now also form part of our archival collection. A copy of the publications entitled A life interrupeted. Essays in honour of the lives and legacies of Christof Heyns has been published by the Pretoria University Law Press and is also avalable for reading in the UP Archives reading room.
