On Friday, 23 May 2025, the BCom honours students specialising in Taxation spent an enriching day combining education with recreation on a game farm. The day began with an exciting game drive at Kwalata Game Lodge, offering students a chance to appreciate the local wildlife and natural beauty.
The morning continued on a nearby private game farm, where a variety of fun activities were arranged. The students were pleased to be joined by representatives from the company VAT IT Compliance, who shared valuable insights into careers in tax technology and what working in this dynamic space entails. VAT IT Compliance generously sponsored the morning’s snacks and drinks, and added to the enjoyment by hosting a light-hearted pitch-and-putt competition.

The outing also had an academic component. Having recently covered the topic of farming taxes in class, students were tasked with gathering background information and key facts about the game farm. This information will form the basis of a practical case study, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world context.
