Definition
- condition of the gastro-intestinal system where the client feels like vomiting; sign that someone has an illness
Causes:
- food poisoning
- oral contraceptives
- drug side effects (TB drugs, ARV drugs, metronidazole, anaesthesia)
- pregnancy
- severe period pains
- certain medical conditions, like:
- migraines
- appendicitis
- cholera
- gastritis
- heartburn
- gastroenteritis
- oesophageal reflux
- allergic reaction
- high blood glucose
Management
- fluid replacement therapy (oral sips or drip)
- anti-emetics, medicine for nausea
