Student Health Services (SHS) is here to keep you well so you can focus on your studies. We offer free, accessible, and confidential primary healthcare services to all UP-registered students, with clinics available across all campuses. Whether you need a check-up, medical advice, or ongoing care, our team of medical doctors, professional nurses, dietitians, optometrists, and HIV counsellors is here to help.
We’re committed to your physical health, but also to your confidence and peace of mind. You don’t need medical aid to visit us, and many services are offered at no cost.

- Family Planning: Free services, plus referrals for pregnancy counselling if needed.
- Dietary Advice: Get free tips on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
- HIV Testing: Confidential, free HIV testing and counselling.
- Eye Tests: Free eye exams for all students.
- Crossroads Pregnancy Help: Safe, supportive advice for informed choices.
- Chronic Medication: Easy access to chronic meds with our pick-up service (coming soon).

• Walk-In emergencies are welcome—no booking needed. Our new online booking system will launch soon.
• Please book ahead for dietary consultations, HIV testing, eye exams, and pregnancy counselling.
• Always bring your student card with you.
• Prescriptions can be filled at any pharmacy (at your own cost).
• All consultations are currently free. Specialised tests or external services may carry a cost.
