Dr Willem Jorrisen
Deputy Director: Student Affairs

The Office of the Deputy Director is responsible for three units. These are the Student Governance Unit, the Student Health Unit and the Disability Unit. The Deputy Director also oversees the Student Nutrition And Progress Programme (SNAPP).

Student Nutrition and Progress Programme (SNAPP)

SNAPP aims to assist students from underprivileged or harsh family backgrounds, with limited financial support, or no support at all, with a basic food allowance. Students who require assistance have to formally apply to SNAPP every semester within a given academic year. Applications open during the first week of every semester and are administered through of Office of the Deputy Director of Student Affairs.

The programme focuses on the following three goals – each aimed at fostering higher quality education:

  • Alleviate financially needy students’ short-term hunger while giving them nutrition to enhance their learning capacity in order to complete their studies.
  • Equip students with knowledge and skills to develop and sustain themselves.
  • Display a high level of commitment towards the well-being of students on all levels.
