The Neonate: 2nd International Symposium for Asia Conference was held in China, Shanghai in November. Dr Thembi Mbowane was privileged to attend the conference where the latest evidence in neonatal care and upcoming guidelines for 2019 were discussed. She had the honour of meeting Prof DG Sweet (Chairperson of the European consensus guidelines on the management of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome). The visit to China was also marked by an ethical debate about genetically modified babies.
