Mandela Day at Kalafong Hospital

Posted on July 24, 2012

On Mandela Day, she and her husband, Peter, drove all the way to Kalafong Hospital to fix broken equipment in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit for neonates. Peter, being the handyman, quickly restored broken chairs and other items and Ann gave him a helpful hand.

Several other organisations also came to the rescue of the children in the hospital as part of their 67 minutes of goodwill for the less fortunate.

Transnet workers distributed toys and were seen with a huge cake with Mandela’s picture on it. Each expectant child and some parents received a wholesome portion of that cake to eat.

Police students from Pretoria also came to clean the ward windows and they almost scrubbed the floors too. Neighbouring college students came to entertain the older patients in the children’s ward.

We thank all and everyone who made an effort in commemoration of Mandela’s birthday to make the day a wonderful and positive experience.
