Paediatric Oncology

The Paediatric Oncology team started operating in their new premises at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in early 2010. The Oncology unit originated at Kalafong Hospital, after which it moved to its new premises at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Prof Mariana Kruger was the first head of this unit in its developmental phase.

The unit is currently managed by Prof David Reynders, who completed his fellowship in stem cell transplants in England and his skilled team. Prof Reynders has successfully conducted the first bone marrow transplant in a child in Pretoria.
