UP hosts Dr Keith Hunter
It was with much excitement and great delight that the Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Biology welcomed Dr Keith Hunter in the month of February. Dr Hunter is a consultant Pathologist and Senior Lecturer in the Unit of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology who completed his training and PhD in Glasgow. He has a keen interest in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, focusing in particular on the genetic and epigenetic events associated with early tumour invasion. This is his current research focus area although he is also interested in odontogenic lesions. It was truly an honour and privelege to have Keith in our Department. We were treated to an excellent odontogenic slide seminar as well as a presentation showcasing his various research interests. In addition, he lectured our fifth year dental students, participated in our academic programme and still found the time to distribute 1800 bibles to Grade 8 students in Hammanskraal. The time spent with us will be fondly remembered by our Oral Pathology family. We hope that Keith will similarly head home with many wonderful memories of his time at UP and in sunny South Africa.
