Laboratory Medicine Congress, Cape Town July 2013

Posted on September 18, 2013

A highlight of the congress was the opening lecture presented by the eminent Professor Tim Noakes entitled “Modern Dietary Issues”.  He discussed the modern day plight of global insulin resistance, diabetes and obesity which is largely due to a diet based primarily on carbohydrates.   Within the histopathology segment of the programme, we were spoilt by a series of pertinent lectures on salivary gland pathology presented by Professor Rhoderick Simpson.  The Young Pathologist’s Slide Seminar generated stimulating, lively debate and proved to be an invaluable learning experience.

The congress provided an academically beneficial, memorable time for all who attended.
