The paper was co-authored by Dr’s B. Bunn and Z. Bernitz. Africa was also represented by three forensic dentists from Nigeria. Social events were held at various magnificent venues around the city, all of which were decorated with marble statues and massive frescos painted by renowned artists such as Da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Prof Bernitz’s visit to Europe included a visit to Poland where he delivered a well-attended lecture on forensic odontlology with an emphasis on bite mark analysis at the Medical University of Gdansk. The lecture was attended by forensic pathologists, stomatologists, criminologists and forensic anthropologists. Forensic odontologists from as far as Poznan (4 hours by train) attended the lecture. Poland is still in its infancy regarding forensic dentistry, but all fields of forensic medicine appreciate the contribution that well trained forensic dentists can make to their respective disciplines. Poland has also just joined IOFOS which will give forensic dentists more exposure to global trends and changing methods.
