The Department of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery strives:

• To promote Education in Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery for undergraduate students in Dentistry and Medicine on a cognitive and psychometric level;
• To promote research applicable to Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery for the advancement of the speciality and related fields;
• To provide an interceptive and rehabilitative patient CARE to patients, for:

    • Dento-Alveolar Surgery
  • Advanced treatment from various provinces in South Africa in:
    • Cranio-Facial Traumatology
    • Pre-prosthodontic Surgery
    • Surgical Pathology Oncology
    • Temporomandibular Joint and Facial Pain
    • Orthognatic, Cranio-Facial Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery
    • Facial Cleft Deformities
• To render a super-specialised service to the entire health profession.
