Prof Keshni Bipath from the Faculty Education, Department of Early Childhood Education presented a session on "Belonging, Being, and Becoming." This engaging session focused on the foundational aspects of early childhood development, specifically aimed at practitioners in the field. Through a comprehensive exploration, attendees were introduced to the first two Early Learning and Development Areas: Wellbeing and Personal Belonging. During the session, Prof. Bipath emphasised the importance of fostering a sense of belonging in young children, as it is crucial for their emotional and social development. Participants learned about practical strategies to create environments that promote a child's wellbeing, enhance their self-esteem, and support their ability to form meaningful connections with peers, caregivers, and the community. By incorporating current research and best practices, the session encouraged active participation and discussion among practitioners, allowing them to share their experiences and insights. The knowledge gained will empower these educators to better support children's holistic development in their respective learning environments. Prof. Bipath's session ultimately aimed to inspire a deeper understanding of how foundational aspects of early learning can shape the future trajectory of a child’s educational journey.
