Kagiso Mgidi, the IT lab assistant, presented a session on “Know Your Computer” for community members. During the session, he covered a variety of topics designed to help attendees better understand their computers and make the most of their technology. He started by explaining the basic components of a computer, including hardware and software, and demonstrated how each part works together to perform tasks. Kagiso also shared essential tips on how to maintain a computer, emphasising the importance of regular updates and security measures to protect against viruses and malware. He engaged the audience with interactive demonstrations, showing them how to navigate different operating systems and utilise common applications effectively. At the end of the session, participants were encouraged to ask questions, and many expressed gratitude for the insights they gained. Through this educational experience, Kagiso not only helped demystify technology but also empowered community members to boost their digital literacy, fostering a greater sense of confidence in using computers for everyday tasks.
