Prof. Rudolph Oosthuizen attended the INCOSE International Workshop (IW) 2025 in Seville from February 1-4, 2025, as part of the Complex Systems Working Group. This provided an opportunity to collaborate with fellow systems engineers passionate about tackling complex challenges in our field. Key takeaways from the workshop include:
Educating systems engineers on complexity to recognize that traditional MBSE and tool-centric approaches are limited when addressing real-world complexity.
Advancing the INCOSE understanding of complexity by clarifying definitions, ensuring a shared language across the community.
Development of a Complexity Tradecraft Guide to help address complex problems.
This workshop reaffirmed the importance of collaborative innovation in shaping the future of systems thinking and engineering.
A big thank you to INCOSE and the incredible community of systems engineers who made this event a success! Looking forward to continuing the conversation and implementing the insights gained.
