GSTM Participation at SAIIE 34 Conference: Illuminating the Path Forward

The Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM) proudly participated in the 34th SAIIE Conference, which took place from 14-16 October 2024 at the Riverside Sun in Vanderbijlpark. The "Illuminate the Path Ahead" event brought together academics, industry practitioners, and students to address pressing global and local challenges through systems thinking and industrial engineering.

GSTM made a notable impact at the conference, with a delegation of 17 students and 11 staff members presenting 18 research papers and conducting a workshop titled "Enhancing Systems Thinking Skills through Games." These contributions exemplify GSTM’s dedication to advancing knowledge and fostering innovative engineering, technology management, and sustainability solutions.

Presentations covered various topics, including systems engineering, resilience strategies, and technology management. These discussions provided new insights and stimulated valuable dialogue on challenges such as sustainability, digital disruption, and the governance of complex systems.

In addition to formal presentations, GSTM representatives engaged in meaningful networking opportunities with peers, industry professionals, and members of the SAIIE community. Informal interactions during social events further enriched the experience, facilitating the exchange of ideas and forming new partnerships.

The SAIIE 34 Conference was an invaluable platform for GSTM to connect with thought leaders, share knowledge, and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering and technology management. This experience reinforced GSTM’s commitment to continuous learning, innovative research, and sustainable development.

As we look back on the success of the SAIIE 34 Conference, GSTM is excited to continue illuminating the path toward a sustainable and resilient future.
