Any person who wishes to register at the University for the first time, or after an interruption of studies, should apply or reapply for admission to the University. Please refer to the links to the various programmes for detailed information. Students must renew their registration at the beginning of each academic year until they have fulfilled all the degree requirements.
Your registration needs to be continuous. If it is impossible for a registered student to continue with his/her studies/research in the following year, but student is intent on continuing in the subsequent year, the student must apply in writing for Dean’s approval for leave of absence for the following year. A masters student will be required to pay the full programme fee again in the next year if you do not have Leave of absence.
Student/lecturer contact is considered to be crucial. Class attendance is compulsory and important.
Candidates who are in possession of engineering qualifications obtained from institutions outside South Africa and which are not listed in the Washington Accord will only be considered for admission to the BEng (Hons) if he/she is registered as a Candidate Engineer or a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. Students should approach the Engineering Council of South Africa directly for registration and should bear in mind that the duration of this process is a minimum of four months, and a fee is involved. You are welcome to visit ECSA’s website at www.ecsa.co.za for detailed information.
