Stefani was born in Polokwane in 1971, but moved to Pretoria at the age of 3 where she has been staying ever since. She attended primary school at Laerskool Menlopark and matriculated at Hoërskool Menlopark in 1989 with seven distinctions.
After school she studied BCom Accounting Sciences at the University of Pretoria, whilst staying in Erika. Her favourite lecturer was Prof Johan Oberholster, not only because she thinks he is a brilliant accounting lecturer, but also because he gave the class a double lecture off to go and watch Jean de Florette in the Aula.
In 1992 she obtained her BCom degree Cum Laude and in 1993 she finished her honours degree as well as the Certificate in the Theory of Accounting. In 1994 she passed the Qualifying Exam and also the CIMA final exam, winning the Grey Appointments prize for the best CIMA student of the year. She is currently enrolled for a MCom in Financial Management at the University of Pretoria.
Her three years practical experience was completed at Coopers & Lybrand, after which she lectured at Unisa for three years. The corporate world called and she worked for two years at Teba Bank as a Specialist Financial Planner. However, at the end of the two years, she decided her passion lies in the academy and in 2002 she went back to Unisa.
She has also lectured at Boston City Campus, Forbes Lever Baker and Varsity College. She is an umpire for the SAICA Qualifying Exam Part 1 and is on the Exam Committee of the Qualifying Exam Part 2. She has also been marking Qualifying Exam papers for six years.
Her other interests are animals, books, nature, travelling, cricket, rugby, golf, opera and ballet. She has even attended a 'Ballet for Adults' class for three years.
She is really a lady with multiple talents. The Department of Financial Management is very privileged to have her on board.
