Prof Oost started at the University of Pretoria as a Professor in Investment and Financial Management in 1990. When the School of Financial Sciences restructured in 2002, Prof Oost took the position as Head of the newly established Department of Financial Management. Prof Oost will stay on as full-time professor in the Department.

On 1 September 2010 Professor Henco van Schalkwyk, formerly from the University of Johannesburg, took over the role as the new Head of the Department of Financial Management. He was Head of Department of Finance and Investment Management at the University of Johannesburg from 2005 to 2008 and Deputy Head of the Department until his resignation in August 2010.
