We have critically evaluated existing methodology and have spent substantial energy on developing methods that give reproducible results in antimicrobial assays. These methods are now used very widely across the world. This makes it possible to compare results obtained with different plant extracts and to enhance bioassay-guided fractionation. The approach is multidisciplinary and students and collaborators come from fields as diverse as biochemistry, botany, chemistry, microbiology, parasitology, pharmacy, pharmacology, physiology, plant pathology, plant production, veterinary sciences and zoology.
