Manager of Unit for Distance Education appointed

Dr Ooko holds a Doctoral Degree in Didactics of e-Learning and Distance Education from the University of South Africa, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration, from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. She is the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK

Dr Ooko has experience spanning over a period of thirty years in the teaching/teacher training field, and e-learning implementation in all sectors of Education and Educational Leadership/administration, and starting new departments and programs within various institutions of higher learning. 

She brings extensive teaching experience ranging from teaching in regular primary schools, the Kenya Institute of Special Education where she worked as a lecturer with added responsibilities of developing and implementing a suitable curriculum for the training of teachers for the hearing impaired.  She has also worked for the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics in New York, taught at Africa Nazarene University and as well, served as a Director of the Institute of Open and Distance Learning at Africa Nazarene University. She is the Innovator and Founder of the first Virtual Academy of Kenya.

At the time of her recruitment, she was the Director of Kabarak University Online. Her roles included supporting the development, functioning and continuous improvement of the Kabarak University online program and assisting senior management in developing and implementing the online learning strategy and developing institutional quality assurance and accreditation frameworks.
