The Albert Luthuli Centre for Responsible Leadership (ALCRL), in partnership with Unisa, was invited to participate in the Young African Leaders Initiative in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The Young African Leaders Initiative was launched by President Barack Obama in 2010. One of its main objectives is to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.
The ALCRL will be training and developing young leaders from across all SADC countries in responsible leadership and how it can help to address social and environmental challenges, with the goal of bringing about change.
A total of 800 dynamic young African students across SADC will be hosted as part of five cohorts in 2016. Upon completion, these young participants will be able to make noteworthy contributions, helping to overcome challenges in their communities and around the world.
