The 2025 Netball Season Draws to an End

Posted on August 16, 2025

On the 8th of April 2025, the Commercii netball ladies, both junior and senior divisions, led by coach Lethabo Leballo, commenced what turned out to be a competitive and demanding netball season. This season marked Commercii’s return to the Tuks Netball Residence League after not featuring in the previous season, so it was great to have a team representing the biggest faculty at UP back in action.

This year, Tuks Netball decided on a compact league format, which meant teams sometimes had to play two to three games in a single day. This truly tested the players and their coaches, but I can proudly say, as the Sports EC of Commercii, that our ladies rose to the challenge. I want to thank every single player who played for Commercii and represented the EMS Faculty. Shout-out to you, ladies!

It was a long season, running from April 8 to August 16, but despite its length, it was filled with joyful and lasting memories, where friendships and sisterhoods were formed. The senior ladies delivered stellar performances, finishing 3rd in their division and making it to the final after beating House IA in the semi-final. Unfortunately, they fell short against the dominance of Landbou in the final, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier Division. The juniors had a contrasting season to the seniors, similar to Manchester United’s ups and downs, LOL. They finished 6th in their division, which was somewhat disappointing. However, we can give them the benefit of the doubt, as it was their first year at varsity, and they were still adjusting.

As the Sports EC, I want to express my gratitude to our netball ladies for staying committed throughout the season and for choosing to play for the faculty. I hope to see you back next year, ready to keep pushing. Remember, champions keep playing until they get it right.
